About PropertyTax.guide
Making U.S. property tax data transparent, accessible, and actionable for every homeowner since 2026.
Our Mission
Property taxes are often the single largest recurring expense of homeownership — yet they remain one of the most opaque and confusing systems in the United States. Between millage rates, overlapping taxing districts, fractional assessments, and hidden exemptions, most homeowners have no idea if they're overpaying.
PropertyTax202611 was built to solve this problem. Our mission is to provide free, transparent, and highly localized property tax data — rates, assessor contacts, payment portals, and exemption guides — to every homeowner in the US.
How We Source Our Data
We take data integrity seriously. Our database is built using a strict aggregation methodology — not user submissions or unverified third-party APIs.
Official Government Records
We aggregate data directly from State Departments of Revenue, County Tax Assessors, and the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS 5-Year Estimates).
Effective Tax Rate Methodology
Local millage rates are misleading due to varying assessment ratios. We calculate effective tax rates as: median annual taxes paid ÷ median home value × 100. This provides the most realistic apples-to-apples comparison across counties.
Annual Verification Cycle
Our dataset is audited and updated annually. County tax rates, assessor contact information, and payment portal URLs are verified each year before the next billing cycle.
Editorial Review
All guide content is reviewed for accuracy before publication. We cite official government sources and link to official county portals — never to third-party payment processors with hidden fees.
